Have you ever wondered what god (in this post easier than typing all the alternatives, such as God, Jehovah, Allah, high power, superior being, aliens, or the Beatles) looks down and thinks about what the hell the human race is doing. I mean when you stop and think about it, we can't go a day with the death of someone or some people. There is always a war going on somewhere on this planet. We hate people and are intolerant. We lie, cheat, and steal. Kill for sex, drugs, money, and cable television (that one I haven't figured out, as Family Guy and Simpsons are the only thing worth watching).

I often wonder if he doesn't interact just because we've got things so screwed up that he would have to cleans the planet and start over to get a head start. It's like when you let the house get so messy that it takes a entire day just to get it back up to par. When have done that to this planet and ourselves.

But there is something else that I wanted to talk about . . .sex.

"Drink water out of your own cistern, and tricklings out of the midst of your own well. Should your springs be scattered out of doors, your streams in the public squares themselves? Let them prove to be for you alone, and not for strangers with you. Let your water source prove to be blessed and rejoice with the wife of your youth, a lovable hind and a charming mountain goat. So why should you, my son, be in an ecstasy with a strange woman or embrace the bosom of a foreign woman?" Proverbs 5:15-20

Wow, that is pretty hot for a Bible passage! So what do you think is included in "Let her own breasts intoxicate you at all times"? I mean do think that this is then condoning all forms of sexual acts. And I don't mean incest, molestation, and things like that. I'm talking like oral or anal sex, doggie-style, 69, role-play, and maybe phone sex. I mean did god think ahead and know that man and woman were going to think of all these things to do? Or is it really an abomination against god as some religions would have you believe. And then, of course the age old sin, masturbation. Do you know what most Christian religions base the origin of masturbation as a sin?

"In view of that Judah said to Onan: Have relations with your brother's wife and preform brother-in-law marriage with her and raise up offspring for your brother. But Onan knew that the offspring would not become his, and it occurred that when he did have relations with his brother's wife he wasted his semen on the earth so as not to give offspring to his brother. Now what he did was bad in the eyes of the Lord, hence he put him also to death." Genesis 38:8-10

Whereas this situation was concerning brother-in-law marriage, so that the family line could be continued, it has been misconstrued as masturbation. Although there is no way to tell from the text as to if Onan, prematurely with-drew from Tamar, and ejaculated outside of her, or whether he masturbated to prevent having sufficient semen when having relations with her, is left up to the reader. But the problem is, that Christianity fails to take into context the situation. It wasn't that Onan either withdrew or masturbated, it was that he avoided his own responsibilities for his own selfish desires that got him kilt (killed for the ebonically impaired).

You know the Bible is so full of things that require interpretation. People perceive things differently. Like I could never quite understand where the Catholics come to understand that those that serve god (priest and the such) must be celibate. Or their hatred of birth control. But I guess to each his own, yeah?

So I guess, my "what would you do" questions is . . .

Do you think that all forms of sexual practices are sanctioned by god?

Is masturbation a sin?

What are your views on celibacy and birth control?

And . . .

this is the real curiosity here (for the guys anyway) . . .

Would you/could you preform brother-in-law marriage if it were still practiced today?

What preoccupies your mind . . .?

Is it something far into the future?

Something in the present?

Or something that was never meant to be?

How do you deal with?  Some people deal by ignoring the situation.  Trying to block it out and push it down further.  Bury it and bury it more.  The more dirt you pile on top of it the better chance you have of forgetting it . . . right? Some people try to bury not with "dirt" but with other things. 

For instance, drowning things has a way of getting rid of unwanted items/things.  But that isn't the answer, either is it? Anger is how some deal with things that they cannot control.  Things that they cannot contain. 

Until the anger rises so high that nothing can keep it down.  It bursts and breaks forth, crushing and destroying anything in it's path.  Like a rampaging juggernaut, it cares not what it hurts . . . the tiny, insignificant ant under it's feet, it doesn't even notice.  But that does not mean that the destruction is not hurtful to something/someone.

Some people run.  If Barry Allen couldn't run away from his problems, then what makes us, those that can't even break the sound barrier, capable of running from our problems.  No, running doesn't solve the problem.  But as a track runner, I can tell you that is great for working out the stress and sadness.

And then there are those that do absolutly nothing.  They don't run, drown, bury or hate.  They just sit there and let the world go by them.  The happiness passes by them just like the hate and the anger.  But to absolve themselves of the negative they would give up the positive.  Denying themselves any hope of happiness and peace that might come their way.  But then they get to wondering why they are never happy.  So they start to drown their sorrow and unhappiness, and then it just becomes worse. Worse . . . until they are left with nothing, but a hollow, hollow empty shell.  They then rely on others to lift them up from this self-inflicted situation.  And when someone comes to their aid . . . When someone holds out their hand . . . Someone lifts them up . . . They finally realize that they are their own worse enemy.  And from that momment on their only purpose is to not drag this angel down to the depths that they have sunk to.

He had been ill with chronically high blood pressure for some time, which resulted in renal failure in the autumn of 2002. He suffered a stroke in May 2003, after which he was forced to retire from public life. On July 4, 2003, he died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood. White was 58. His death was reported as being from renal failure. His ashes were scattered by his family off the California coast. Barry White's last words on his death bed were, "Leave me alone - I'm fine".  I remember that day. I was at one of my wife's family reunions when I saw it on the news. It was one of those things that was a surprise, but wasn't. Mr. White had suffered from previous medical problems and this was just the end. I can say that it really affected the music world. Mr. White was a icon. The "masetro of love", the reason that white guys like me found soul. And scored sometimes! 8-) The reminder of that weekend was not as it should have been. I remember thinking that, like Marvin Gaye, why do all the great artists die young. Even though Mr. White was older than Marvin Gaye when he died, it was still to early. But I promised myself that my son(s) or daughter(s) would not be ignorant of the impact that Mr. White had on music and people in general. It is too bad, but his legacy, will not die in my lifetime, at least.
